Salary Range

Each RTD employee position is placed in a grade which has a salary range. The minimum, midpoint, and maximum salaries define the range, with the midpoint representing the market average salary. Ranges are reviewed annually and adjusted when appropriate.

Salary Increases

RTD offers several opportunities for salary increases. Employees who are new to a salaried position at RTD and whose salary is below the midpoint of the range may receive an annual progression increase in recognition of the added value gained during the first few years in the position. Employees may also be eligible for annual merit increases in salary, which are awarded based on an employee's performance during the past year.

RTD maintains employee salaries at or above the market average midpoint, once the employee's salary has reached the midpoint.

Paid Vacation

At RTD, we believe that time spent away from work - to enjoy family and friends, take a trip, or just relax - is vital to the well-being of our employees. That's why our compensation package includes a generous vacation policy:
0 to 5 years of service = 12 days per year;
5 to 15 years of service = 18 days per year; and
15+ years of service = 21 days per year.

Paid Holidays

As part of our policy of providing time off from work to spend with family and friends, RTD offers the following paid holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and Floating Holidays
(1 to 10 years of service = 2 days per year and
10+ years of service = 3 days per year).

Sick Leave

Sick leave accrues at the rate of eight hours per month. Sick leave may be used for an absence due to medical reasons not covered by workers' compensation; health-related appointments; to care for an ill member of the family; for bereavement (in addition to allowable bereavement leave); and to visit Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselors during regular business hours.

Vacation and Sick Leave Sell-Backs

Twice a year, RTD offers vacation and sick leave sell-backs, during which employees may receive payment for a portion of their unused leave. The maximum sale at each offering is a combined total of 40 hours (five days) of vacation and sick leave pay.

Bereavement Leave

Because it is important to be with family during difficult times, RTD offers employees up to three days of paid bereavement leave. The bereavement leave may be taken due to the death of an immediate family member, or a legal/contractual member of the employee's immediate family, or an individual who resides with the employee.

Jury Duty Leave

Jury duty is an important civic duty that we have as U.S. citizens. In recognition of this responsibility, RTD offers paid full salary minus the daily amount of pay received by the employee for jury duty service.

Additional Benefit Dollars Program

This program rewards employees whose good health allows them to use a minimum amount of sick leave. Additional Benefit Dollars are awarded to those employees annually, based on the amount of sick-leave hours taken and the balance of sick-leave hours accrued.
